Curriculum Enrichment

A World Class School Offering the British Curriculum

Enrichment

Providing children with a broad and balanced experience is a key priority at Dubai British School Mira, and as such we offer a diverse range of extra-curricular opportunities for our children.

Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)
ECAs are offered as part of the school provision from FS2 upwards.

  • FS2 and Year 1: children can attend one ECA per week. The children stay together as a class, visiting different staff members who work within their year group to try out a different activity each week. Towards the end of Year 1, children begin to choose from a selection of clubs, provided by staff they work closely with, where they will mix with children from other classes within the year group.
  • Year 2-Year 6: children can attend two ECAs per week, selected from the ECA programme. Preferences are submitted by families and clubs are allocated to children at random, keeping to their preferred choices wherever possible. Children who are part of school squads can select one other ECA choice

The ECAs are well-structured to ensure that there are choices which will interest everyone: Active, Creative, Academic. Using the ‘Enjoy, Aspire, Achieve’ approach, children also have the opportunity to develop their skills, and to participate in activities even if they are not quite at the level to represent the school.

  • Active: clubs to get the body moving
  • Creative: clubs to provide a platform for expression
  • Academic: clubs to challenge the mind

For example:

Enjoy Aspire Achieve
Active Pool Games Super Strokes Swim Squad
Creative Creative Club Art Masterclass World Art Dubai
Academic Storytime Book Club Chevron Readers

Our ECA programme is organic; each term we will review the options available to make sure our provision is responsive to student and parent suggestions, and in – line with staff skills.

At the end of each term, parents will be invited to the ‘ECA Showcase’ so that you can see what your child has learned and celebrate their accomplishments.

After School Activities (ASAs)

Children also have the opportunity to engage in a range of paid clubs which are held after school by our high – quality providers. Our external provision has been carefully selected to ensure the children of Dubai British School Mira have access to the best opportunities.
